Linda L. Hazelgren
Nurse Practitioner – BC
“A friend and cancer survivor said cure focuses on the disease, as contrasted with healing, which involves the restoration of wholeness of mind, body, and spirit. I think that is the perfect description of HOAF because I truly feel that we focus on the person, rather than just the disease.”
Linda Hazelgren joined HOAF in May of 2014, bringing over 25 years of experience as a critical care nurse. In 2010, she graduated from the University of Virginia, Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program with a master’s degree. She loves the profession of nursing and is thrilled to be working in the challenging and rewarding field of oncology.
Linda is a member of several medical organizations including the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Oncology Nursing Society, and Advanced Practitioner Society for Hematology Oncology.
In addition to her vast knowledge and experience, Linda’s success as a nurse practitioner stems from her philosophy of focusing on the person, not just the disease. “A friend and cancer survivor made an observation that I think applies to our practice. He defined cure as being clinical, the absence of disease as contrasted with healing, which involves the restoration of wholeness of mind, body and spirit. Cure focuses on the disease, healing focuses on the person. I have found my place at HOAF because I truly feel that we focus on the person, rather than just the disease. I am incredibly blessed to work with such a caring and dedicated group of professionals.”
Linda grew up in southern California and is married with two college-age sons. When she is not working, she enjoys gardening, walking her two dogs, hiking, baking, and reading.
