Mary Pegelow

Mary Pegelow

Mary Pegelow joined HOAF in 2017 as a medical assistant, and driven by a passion to excel, she earned certification as a Physician Assistant in early 2021. Mary’s background as a medical scribe and medical assistant make her a PA with exceptional people skills. The rewards she sees in her position can best be summed up by Ralph Waldo Emerson:

“To know even one life has been breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.”

Prior to joining HOAF, Mary worked for the Fredericksburg Emergency Medical Alliance, helping triage patients and assisting in minor procedures. While attending South College in Tennessee, she completed clinical rotations in family medicine, general surgery, hematology/oncology, women’s health, internal medicine, pediatrics, behavioral health and emergency medicine. In 2017, she graduated magna cum laude from James Madison University with a BS in Health Sciences and a minor in Biology. She is currently a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Tennessee Academy of Physician Assistants.

Mary’s quest to remain a lifelong learner is shown outside her work life as well, as she spends time cooking, hiking, running, cheering on the Washington Nationals and spending time with her Basset Hound, Mabel.
